Mathura, Vrindavan and Dwarkadhish Temple Tour Overview

Vrindavan and its nearby city, Mathura, are the heart of the Braj region and are closely associated with the life of Lord Krishna. This itinerary focuses on the most significant temples and sites.

Mathura, Vrindavan and Dwarkadhish Temple Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Morning: Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Dwarkadhish Temple

Start your day at Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple, the sacred site where Lord Krishna is believed to have been born. The temple complex is a significant pilgrimage site and also houses a museum and a prison cell, which is said to be the exact birthplace.

Next, visit the Dwarkadhish Temple, one of the oldest and most prominent temples in Mathura. It is known for its beautiful architecture and vibrant atmosphere.

Afternoon: Vishram Ghat and Local Markets

Head to Vishram Ghat, the main ghat on the banks of the Yamuna River. This is where Lord Krishna is believed to have rested after killing the evil king Kansa. You can take a peaceful boat ride on the river and witness the evening aarti (a ritual of worship with lamps).

Spend your evening exploring the bustling local markets of Mathura, famous for traditional handicrafts, religious items, and local sweets, especially the Mathura peda.
Day 2
Morning: Banke Bihari and ISKCON Temple

Start your day early in Vrindavan with a visit to the famous Banke Bihari Temple, a highly revered temple dedicated to Lord Krishna in his "Banke Bihari" (playful) form.

Afterward, go to the ISKCON Temple (Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir), a modern temple complex known for its peaceful atmosphere, 24-hour kirtan (chanting), and beautiful deities.

Afternoon: Prem Mandir and Nidhivan

In the afternoon, visit Nidhivan, a mysterious and sacred forest where Lord Krishna is believed to perform Ras Leela (divine dance) every night. The area is closed to visitors after sunset.

Conclude your day at the magnificent Prem Mandir, a stunning white marble temple dedicated to Radha-Krishna and Sita-Ram. It is known for its intricate carvings and a beautiful light and sound show in the evening.
